SILVER SPRINGS, FL., NOV. 8, 2006 – “I deeply appreciate the strong support I received from the voters of the Sixth Congressional District,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). “I ran a positive campaign that stressed my strong, independent leadership, as well as my many accomplishments throughout the district. In talking with the people throughout north central Florida, I learned that they appreciate my accessibility since I have held nearly 500 town meetings.”

Stearns was re-elected by a strong majority, receiving sixty percent of the vote. “I am very grateful for this strong showing, especially given the present political climate, which I see as the most difficult I have ever seen while in office. Although we lost the majority in the House, I served effectively in the minority previously, and I will reach across the aisle in building upon my record for the people of the Sixth District.”
