STEARNS’ RECORD ON PRIVACY PROTECTION & INTERNET BILL OF RIGHTS IS HIGHLIGHTED
OCALA, OCT. 13, 2008 – Esquire Magazine, a literary and men’s fashion publication, has endorsed Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) in the election for Florida’s Sixth Congressional District. According to the Esquire endorsement, "When, someday in the future, you are protected from online skullduggery by an Internet Bill of Rights, you’ll have Cliff Stearns to thank. He’s the leader in Congress – Frankly in the entire federal government – on privacy protection in the digital age."
"The constant advances in technology require corresponding steps to protect our privacy," said Stearns. "I pushed through the Do-Not-Call List that protects us from unsolicited telephone calls at home and I am continuing to work on enhancing our online privacy. I appreciate this recognition of these efforts."
